First Edition: Fall 2014
Dear Village Residents:
At the encouragement of a committee of representatives, the Albion Lion's Club, the Village of Albion Board, the Village of Albion Recreation Commission and interested citizens has been formed to reignite the effort that began in 2011 to improve Bullard Park. The top two priorities currently are: replacing some of the worn-out playground apparatus and building a "Splash Pad". A Splash Pad is a tennis court size water park where several pieces of water sprays are spread out for total enjoyment for summer fun time activity. The group has connected with a couple of companies regarding the playground equipment and has asked Parkitects of Buffalo, NY, who installed splash pads in nearby Olcott and Perry, NY, to put together a blueprint (at no charge) for a customized plan for an Albion Splash Pad at Bullard Park.
In order to make these dreams a reality, we must raise money and cannot rely heavily on the local municipalities for it. The Lion's Club has pledged $10,000 and approximately $2,000 was raised at the "Rock The Park" Concert that was held at the Albion Elk's Pavilion this summer on August 23rd. Although we hope to procure some grant monies, it is necessary for this community to make a commitment to this project (financial and volunteer time). If you wish to make a donation, please send it to the Village of Albion Clerk's Office at 35 East Bank Street, Albion, NY 14411. Checks should be made out to: "Rebuild Bullard". If you can donate a bit of time, please try to come to a meeting. Our meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of each month at The Hoag Library from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. You may view more information on the Village of Albion Website (www.vil.albion.ny.us) and Facebook page. (www.facebook.com/rebuildbullard) Please pass this message along to others and encourage them to get involved in this wonderful project.
