ZONING BOARD MEETING
April 9, 2015

CALLED TO ORDER:
Jean opened the meeting at 4:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance followed
USE VARIANCE : 318 West Avenue (73.9-1-34)
Premier Sign Systems submitted an area variance application on behalf of Westwood Financial Group for a sign larger than allowed at the plaza located at 318 West Avenue.
The Dollar Tree will be opening a store in the plaza. In order to provide adequate signage for the store a variance is needed. There are three (3) other businesses in the plaza with larger signs so there is not enough square footage remaining for the Dollar Tree.
CEO Vendetti stated that an agreement has been made with the Plaza owners to install a new sign at the entrance of the plaza once the Dollar Tree renews its five year lease or sooner if the remaining space in the plaza is filled. A drawing of the new sign was provided to the zoning board members.
There was no one present who wished to speak regarding the area variance.
A motion was made by Tony , seconded by Tracy to close the public hearing at 4:07 pm.
Motion passed unanimously
Chris Kinter arrived at 4:09 pm.
Jean reviewed the criteria for granting an area variance. The applicant met all of the requirements. A motion was made by Tony, seconded by Tracy to grant the area variance for the Dollar Trees sign at 318 West Avenue.
Motion carried 3 Ayes ( J. Smith, A. Wynn & T. VanSkiver) 1 – Abstained (C. Kinter)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A motion was made by Chris, seconded by Tony to approve the minutes of the January 12, 2015, meeting as written.
